Why does Privacy and Security Matter?

Here at WCSI, we value our clients’ rights regarding their privacy and confidentiality.

Ensuring privacy and security of private health information (PHI), including electronic medical records (EMR), is a key component to building trust with our clients.

If our clients lack trust in the physical or electronic exchange of their information, it may negatively affect that client-provider relationship.

Privacy Tips for Telehealth

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has issued a tip sheet to help explain to patients the privacy and security risks to their protected health information (PHI) when using telehealth services and ways to reduce these risks.  WCSI would like to share this information with those we serve. The tip sheet provides recommendations that patients can implement to protect and secure their health information such as:

  • Conduct telehealth appointments in a private location.
  • Use a personal computer or mobile device, if possible.
  • Avoid public Wi-Fi networks.
  • If you are suspicious of a link to join a TH appointment, contact your provider immediately.
