All children grow and learn at different rates. Children who are developing more slowly than typical children may be eligible for Early Intervention (EI) services and supports. Early Intervention is a program that assists families in expanding the potential of their child with special needs and helping that child lead a healthy and satisfying life.
The WCSI EI program can help families determine eligibility and then coordinate the specific services that best meet the child’s and family’s needs. Parents, teachers, physicians, nurses, or other caregivers may also contact the WCSI Early Intervention Department to make a referral for services in regards to a child with developmental concerns.
Who is Eligible for Early Intervention Services?
Families with infants and toddlers from birth to three (3) years of age who have special needs due to developmental delays or disabilities may apply for service coordination through the WCSI EI program.
Children ages 3 to 5 may be referred to the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit Early Intervention Program.
